The porch of my friend's house. As a drawing it brings together the textures and patterns I love to create. It includes the plant shapes and light and shadow that are some of my favorite visual elements.But on a personal level, this drawing was one of those built around highly personal moments in my own life.
As my life as I'd known it was crashing behind me, I stayed with this friend and sat on this porch, and found sanctuary. It carries more than just a quiet meditative emotional subtext. It is a stillness of mind and heart enfolded by warmth and light and growing life.
