woodcut of MardiMy interest in art began early in life. My mother was an artist and I remember her teaching me to draw faces with my crayons on the little table on our front porch when I was about three years old.

As an artist the elements of visual expression that most appeal to my sense of aesthetics are textures, patterns and shapes. My work reflects these interests both in my choice of images and my treatment of them. I have worked for a number of years in a few different media. Initially, from the mid-1970s I was mostly involved with drawing; then in the mid-1980's I began to work in printmaking. In 1999 I created my first digital image and that medium has increasingly become my primary form of expression.
